Atlanta Society of Entertainers “Bluegrass Band of the Year” 2003

                                         John Farley - Lead Guitar

John was born and raised in East Tennessee. John's parents, Mack and Evelyn Farley, played old-time country and bluegrass music and John listened to all their records while learning how to play various instruments. He started playing the guitar seriously around 1969. After service in the Army, John formed a band with his brother, Mack, known as the "Farley Brothers". In the early 1970’s, John toured with different bands and married Debbie Galloway in 1974 (gaining a lifetime musical partner)! John continued to work as a sideman in various groups in the late 1970's and 1980's and began playing with Connie Morris in Georgia Bound in the mid 1980's. John and Debbie were also members of several other bands including the "Dixie Hoedowners", "New Dixie", and "Heartstrings".  John is a dedicated songwriter in addition to his outstanding talent as a lead guitarist. He considers himself lucky to have played onstage with many of his musical heros, including Ralph Stanley, Grandpa Jones, Josh Graves, Bill Blaylock, Bill Grant and Delia Bell, Kenny Baker and Chubby Anthony.

In recognition of John’s musical talent and contribution to bluegrass music in the Atlanta area, John was inducted into the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Honor in 2001. And in 2003, he was presented with the “Musician of the Year” award from the Atlanta Society of Entertainers.
