Atlanta Society of Entertainers “Bluegrass Band of the Year” 2003

Tracy Burdette - Mandolin and Vocals

Tracy grew up in Fairburn, Georgia and was first introduced to bluegrass through his older brother, Keith. After listening to a few records by Bill Monroe and hearing his brother play music, Tracy began to play guitar himself at the age of 13 or 14. When he became roommates with his friend, Mike Patton, in the mid 1980’s, the two began to attend a few local bluegrass festivals in the area. Tracy and Mike also began playing country and bluegrass music on a casual basis. When Mike met Murray Freeman in the late 1980’s, Tracy joined in when Mike and Murray started playing bluegrass together. Tracy also decided to take up mandolin at the time and Tracy and Mike soon joined Murray and Connie in a new formation of "The Ridgerunners". Murray and Connie decided to merge “The Ridgerunners” and Georgia Bound in 1992, and since that time, Tracy has made a significant contribution to the band on mandolin and lead and harmony vocals.
